Grant Received from TCI

CHICAGO, IL – The CBO Collective (CBOC) has received a special funding opportunity grant from Telligen Community Initiative (TCI), a private, Iowa-based charitable foundation. The grant amount was $53,150 and will allow the CBOC access to NowPow’s personalized community referral platform for one year. The CBOC will use NowPow’s platform to help people find and connect with highly matched community resources, such as mental health services, childcare, technology, and education. 

The CBOC’s mission is to find, create, and cultivate meaningful employment for Black and Brown jobseekers from the South and West sides of the city and provide employers with a central means of accessing local talent that has historically been marginalized, underserved, or has barriers to employment. Our hope is that, through this grant, we can create a stronger referral system for wrap-around support so that job seekers can more readily access the resources and services necessary to move them from surviving to thriving.

This is the first year TCI and NowPow have collaborated to provide this grant opportunity. The goal of the partnership is to address social determinants of health and establish connectivity between clinical solutions, human services and education resources for those in need.

“TCI was impressed with the organization’s understanding of how wrap-around services can help their clients be successful in finding employment,” said Matt McGarvey, executive director of Telligen Community Initiative. “The NowPow platform will be incredibly helpful in providing the supportive services that are so important in this process.”

The special funding opportunity is currently open to agencies in Illinois and Colorado.
